UNDERSTANDING SUNNYVALE’S RISE IN CRIME
According to the California Department of Justice, in 2023, overall violent crime in Sunnyvale 59% above the 10-year average. Rape, robbery, aggravated assaults, and even auto thefts have grown steadily over the last several years. More troubling, however, is the increase in criminals who use guns to commit their crimes in our community.

While crime has steadily climbed over the last 10 years, there’s been nearly zero public discussion about the trend. That does not mean that Sunnyvale residents are not concerned about rising crime. To the contrary, they are very concerned about the city being less safe. They just have not been informed on the status of crime in the City.
